What is different about Homage jewelry?

We designed a fine jewelry line that fits into your daily lifestyle, whether you're sweating, showering, or shimmying. We only use high-quality materials like 14k solid gold and vermeil so that you can wear your favorite pieces daily without them tarnishing.

Each design pays homage to the extraordinary beauty, love, and inspiration found in the everyday. Inspired by literature, art, and nature, our pieces can be worn daily as an invitation to help us live each day more meaningfully. 

 

What materials do you use and why?

We want you to wear your Homage pieces when showering, sweating, shimmying, or whatever you do in your busy lives. To us, materials matter. We use 14k solid gold and 14k gold vermeil to maintain a high standard of quality while giving you a variety of price points.

 

What’s the difference between vermeil, solid gold, and gold plated?

Gold-plated: Gold-plated pieces are created by bonding an extremely thin layer of gold over more budget-friendly base materials such as copper or brass. The gold content is usually less than 1%. Unfortunately, the thin gold layer will wear off quickly with time, and sometimes turn your skin green with the copper or brass base metal. We never offer gold-plated as an option because we want your Homage pieces to stand the test of time. 

Gold vermeil: Gold vermeil is when sterling silver is coated with a thick layer of gold. The gold thickness is 2.5 microns. This is a more budget-friendly option than solid gold but will last exponentially longer than any gold-plated pieces. When properly cared for, vermeil jewelry is appropriate for everyday wear. We offer our pieces in vermeil as well as gold to keep the price point accessible while also giving value that lasts.

Solid gold: Solid gold is the most expensive and the highest in quality and gold content. It is highly prized as solid gold does not tarnish or fade with repeated wear.  We use 14k solid gold to keep the price point accessible while keeping a high standard of quality that can last today, tomorrow, and generations from now. 

 

What type of gemstones do you use and what is your ethical standard?

We use natural gemstones in almost all cases. For emeralds and opals, we often use high-quality synthetic stones to ensure the structural integrity of the end product. All of our stones come from suppliers who have extremely high ethical standards. These suppliers have visited their sources personally to ensure that the people employed are treated well and compensated fairly.

 

What is the difference between “ready to ship” and “made to order”?

Ready to ship means we have the product available to ship within 3-5 business days. Made-to-order are items that we produce just for you. Most solid gold pieces are made to order. Depending on the piece, it can take between 4-8 weeks but is typically around 6 weeks.

 

What is the typical wait time for made-to-order pieces?

Depending on the piece it can take between 4-8 weeks.

How long will it take to ship?

If it is a made-to-order item, production and shipping will take 4-8 weeks. If it’s a ready-to-ship item, it will ship in 3-5 business days.

 

How much is shipping?

Shipping is free for all domestic orders. For international orders, shipping is $75. We ship everything with USPS or UPS and will share tracking information with you via email. For some orders, an adult signature may be required. If this is the case, we will let you know in our post-purchase communication. If you need expedited shipping, reach out to info@sisterhomage.com.

What’s the return policy?

Curated, made-to-order, or custom pieces are always FINAL SALE — no refunds, no exchanges. All 14k solid gold items are considered made to order, and custom or curated items will be marked final sale. For all other items, we will accept unworn and in their original packaging, showing no signs of having been worn or used, if the request is submitted within 10 days of delivery for an exchange, store credit, or refund. Customers are responsible for round-trip shipping costs. Returns will not be accepted after ten days. If you would like to exchange or return an item, please email returns@sisterhomage.com to begin the process. No returns or exchanges will be accepted without prior authorization.

Damages and issues: Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, or damaged, or if you receive the wrong item so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right. Email returns@sisterhomage.com to begin the process.

 

How do I make a return?

If you would like to exchange or return an item, please email returns@sisterhomage.com to begin the process. No returns or exchanges will be accepted without prior authorization.

 

My piece broke, will you repair it?

We take great care to ensure our jewelry is made to last, and we stand behind the quality of our pieces. If any damage or breakage occurs, please email info@sisterhomage.com, and provide us with photos of what needs to be repaired. We will assess this on a case-by-case basis. 

 

Do you have a store? Can I try on your pieces in person?

We do not have a store, but we are glad to offer virtual consultations to help you understand the fit, size, or any other questions you have. Email info@sisterhomage.com to book.  

Are there any discounts? 

When you sign up for our mailing list, you’ll get a gift of 10% off your first purchase. We run seasonal sales throughout the year, so be sure to follow us on social media so you won’t miss out. 

 

How do I know my size?

Bangles: Bangle size is determined by the size of your hand and not your wrist. To determine your bangle size, tuck your thumb into the palm of your hand (as if about to put on a bangle), and using string, measure your hand all the way around at the widest point. You can also use a bangle sizer like this to be sure. 

Rings: If you don’t already know your ring size, we recommend using a ring sizing tool like this one or this printable oneor visiting your local jeweler to get sized.

Can I exchange my piece for a different size?

To initiate an exchange, email returns@sisterhomage.com, and we will follow up with more info. Custom and made-to-order pieces are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.

 

How do I care for my Homage pieces?

Here are some tips to keep your pieces looking great: 

  • Store your pieces in individual airtight bags.
  • We recommend using Goddard's Silver Dip or jewelry cloth to remove any tarnish from your piece. 
  • For vermeil, it is best to remove pieces when showering, swimming, sweating, and before bringing into contact with anything hard. 
  • For gold pieces, avoid exposure to household chemicals.
  • Wear your pieces daily so that you won’t lose them. 🙂
